This woman came from the brightest being that gives us life.
This woman gave us life.
She gave birth to the first microscopic creatures known to us.
These microscopic creatures grew and depended on her even more
And she gave and continued giving
And they grew and took until they grew to become men.
But these men continued taking advantage of her.
They took from her and extracted what made her profound.
And she continued making her three hundred sixty five day journey
And returning to a new spot and then these men developed industries
And these men began pulling the roots from her head as she screamed
And we used it to write, paint, and waste
Then we spoiled her veins with toxic chemicals and wastes
Her once clear veins have become the poison that circulates around her
And when she tried to reach for the sky to ask her mother for help
These men blasted her arms with dynamite so we can make tunnels
And when she had her moments of pain and she could not hold it in no longer
She cried and wailed causing storms, floods, and quakes
Then with a finger pointing we dictated it was her natural disaster
DISASTER! Where will this woman go?
Why do we hurt this woman?
Why do we take advantage of this woman?
Especially when we all came from this woman?
This woman, I respect her
This woman, she needs help
This woman, she screams for a savior
This woman, I met when she was crippled, burning, and dying
And when she was already getting back on her knees she was pushed back down
And trash was shoved into her throat.
Then she trembled in fear and her head tilted making days shorter
She tilts her head up for help
She tilts her head down to grieve
Someone told me to be grateful that I am not her.
But I am here and I have to help this woman
For I love this woman
For I love this Earth
